In this guide, we’ll show you how to customize the Google Calendar Events for Simply Schedule Appointments.
This is currently in beta, please understand that some issues may come up, when this happens please reach out to our support team so that we can fix it 🙂
Beta Release Option for Google Calendar Event Customization
This feature is still in its beta stage, we plan to release it for everyone after we feel it’s at a stable place. In the meantime, if you want to use this feature, you’ll need to manually opt-in first.
To opt-in to using the new beta feature, go to the SSA Settings screen > scroll to the bottom and click on Developer > under the Beta Features section, toggle on the “Google Calendar Events Customizations” option.
How the Google Calendar Event Customization Works
Depending on what settings you’re using you’ll be able to customize up to 5 total unique Google Event types. All of your Appointment Types that use Google Calendar sync will fall under one of the following categories when it comes to making the Google Events.
We don’t have a way to create a custom Google Event for specific Appointment Types right now. Multiple Appointment Type may have to share a Google Event.

Using the Google Event Customization Feature
To start, go to the SSA Settings > Google Calendar. At the bottom of the page, turn on the toggle that says, Customize event content.
After toggling this on, you’ll see all of the events you’re able to customize.
Customizing a Google Calendar Event
Depending on your settings, you may not see all 5 unique events listed here. But, the ones you do see on the list are completely customizable, this includes editing their:
- Event Title
- And, Details
The Blue Notice box within the tabs gives you a couple of Appointment Type examples that are going to use that Google Event.
If you don’t see all 5 events, don’t worry! This just means you don’t have any Appointment Types that fall under those Google Event categories. For example, you may have Google Invites off completely and that’s okay.
Editing a Google Event
Click one of the tabs to start editing. Notice that you can use Twig templates to help you pull information from the Appointments and Appointment Type settings. Here are some guides to help you use Twig:
Use the Tt button on the top-right corner of the text fields to easily access Twig templates.
After editing, make sure to click Save Calendar Events Settings.
