Introduction

In this guide, we discuss how to address an issue where the Twilio settings cannot be saved in the SMS Notifications area of the Settings.

Twilio Settings Not saving

Simply Schedule Appointments utilizes the Twilio API to handle SMS notifications. This service allows SMS messages to be sent through their own servers rather than our servers.

However, extra fees associated with Twilio will be handled on the Twilio site. This means that if the funds run out, the status of that account or phone number may be suspended or inactive. This can lead to a weird issue where saving the Twilio API settings in the SMS Notifications settings is impossible.

How to Solve

When an account is suspended on Twilio, Simply Schedule Appointments won’t allow the credentials to be saved in the SMS Notifications settings. To double-check if this is the case, log in to the Twilio account and determine its status.

Head to Manage Billing and then Billing Overview. If there’s a notice about the account’s state being suspended, then this would be the cause for the notifications not being saved.

The notice should read: “Your Twilio Account is currently suspended due to a lack of funds. Recharge your account and get back to making calls.”

After recharging the Twilio account with funds, and resaving the SMS Notifications settings, then everything should work as expected again.
