Welcome to the Quarterly Newsletter!
Hello everyone, and welcome to our second quarterly newsletter of 2026! Spring rolled into summer, and we spent it doing a proper deep clean – locking the doors, tightening the hinges, and making sure your booking calendar runs safe and speedy.
There’s a security and reliability theme running through this one. A lot of the work happened under the hood, but it’s the kind of work that keeps everything humming so you can focus on booking appointments, not troubleshooting them. Let’s dig in!
Simply Schedule Appointments News for the Second Quarter of 2026
Here’s a roundup of what we’ve been working on between April and June.
Faster-Loading Booking Embeds
We added a new “Defer loading” toggle for booking integrations. When it’s on, your booking form waits to load until it’s actually needed, which lightens the initial page load and keeps your site feeling snappy.
If you embed booking forms on busy pages, this is an easy win for speed – flip it on and let your visitors get to the good part faster. Want the details? Here’s our full guide to deferring the booking calendar.
More Control Over Embedded Booking Forms
Embedding your booking form somewhere outside your site just got more flexible. You can now pass appointment type and styling options right into an external embed, so the form shows up looking exactly how you want it.
We also added a hide_header toggle to the embed snippet, so you can tuck away the header for a cleaner, more seamless fit wherever your form lives.
More Reliable Appointment Reminders
Reminders are only helpful if they actually go out on time. This quarter we taught SSA to detect and resync reminders that had drifted out of sync, and we fixed a related issue where a resync could accidentally clear reminders that were still supposed to send.
The result: fewer missed nudges, and more confidence that your clients get their reminders when they should.
A Big Spring Clean on Security
This was a security-forward quarter. We patched a series of vulnerabilities reported by our friends at WordFence and Patchstack, and tightened permission checks across the booking API so only the right requests get through.
You don’t need to do anything – just keep SSA updated to the latest version and you’re covered. It’s the digital equivalent of changing the locks and checking the windows, and we’re glad to do it.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
A healthy round of tidying-up this quarter:
- Fixed CSV exports that weren’t displaying payment details correctly
- Resolved database size issues and a fatal error in the async queue
- Fixed a Resource Group selection and display issue, plus an availability cache collision across grouped resources
- Restored the SSA module in the Divi 5 picker when a child theme is active
- Stopped the Express view from holding onto a “skipped” time when you pick a new date
- Fixed a 500 error when purging appointments on the Basic, Plus, and Professional editions
- Webhook payloads once again include price fields
That’s a Wrap on Q2. Fresh, Clean, and Ready for Summer! 🧹
That’s it for the second quarter of 2026! It may have been a heads-down quarter of security and reliability work, but it leaves your booking system safer, faster, and more dependable heading into the back half of the year.
